*The rate for balance transfers is 0% interest for 27 months when you make a balance transfer within three months of opening your account. After 27 months the rate for the transferred balance will change to the standard variable rate that applies at the time.

Transferring balances is easy

Once you've received your card you can contact us through your mobile app on the Help section by selecting ‘Send us a message’, or by logging in to internet banking and clicking the ‘Message us’ button on the bottom right hand of the screen. Start your message with ‘I want to complete a Balance Transfer’ and we’ll be able to help you with your request. Transfer requests received after 3.30pm or on a weekend or bank holiday will be processed the next working day. It can take up to five working days for the money to reach your other credit or store card provider.

A Balance Transfer fee of 2.29% (min £5) will be charged for each transferred balance made within three months of opening your account. After three months, this fee will be at the full rate.

Sorry - we can't transfer balances between cards operated by members of the HSBC Group, including HSBC UK Bank plc, its subsidiaries, associated and affiliated companies. These include Marks & Spencer Financial Services plc and John Lewis Financial Services Limited. We can't transfer from all cards, for example, some store cards.

Who can apply?

All we ask is that you can say yes to everything below:

  • You’re 18 or over
  • You are a UK resident and live permanently in the UK
  • You have an annual income/pension before tax of £6,800 or more
  • You haven’t been declared bankrupt or registered for an Individual Voluntary Agreement in the last 6 years (or in the process of doing so.)
