Existing customers

Managing your first direct credit card

If you have a first direct Credit Card or Gold Card, you can log on to Internet Banking to do all sorts of things:

  • make a payment
  • check your balance
  • order a replacement PIN
  • order a replacement card
  • increase or decrease your credit limit
  • opt out of auto limit increase
  • set up a Direct Debit to pay your monthly bill.

Balance transfers

Log on to Internet Banking and select 'Service request' and choose 'Balance transfer' from the left hand menu. Or call us any time, night or day on 03 456 100 100 - transfer requests received after 3.30pm or on a weekend or bank holiday will be processed the next working day, and it can take up to five working days for the money to reach your other credit or store card provider.

Going abroad?

Lucky you... Your card will be accepted at over 19 million outlets worldwide and you can use it to withdraw up to £500 a day from over 1 million cash machines (though remember, the ATM owner may charge you and other fees and charges may apply - see details below). You don't have to let us know before you go, but if you do, it will reduce the chance of your card being declined - log on to Internet Banking and select 'Tell us you're travelling'.

If you pay for something in the local currency, take local currency out of a cash machine, or request a cash advance, we'll charge you a non-Sterling transaction fee of 2.99% of the amount. Your transactions will be converted to Sterling by Visa, using the interest rate applicable on the day of the conversion - read more about how Visa convert foreign transactions - and we'll add the transaction and any associated fees to your card balance as soon as Visa have done this, or next working day at the latest.

Before you go you can also use your card to order travel money online. Have a good trip!
