*For eligible customers under 70. Claims for death, injury, illness or disability are not covered if they result from you being under the influence or effect of alcohol or drugs. Pre-existing medical conditions are not covered at any time under this policy unless they have been disclosed and accepted by our medical assessment team or are included in the list of accepted conditions detailed in the policy booklet. Trips must start and end in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man and last no longer than 31 days. Trips inside the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man must include at least two consecutive nights' stay in pre-booked holiday accommodation.

**We'll provide winter sports cover for up to 31 days in any calendar year.

***But only to carry out office-based clerical or administrative duties.

Motor Breakdown Assistance with the RAC

What's covered?

  • you as a driver or passenger in an eligible vehicle
  • breakdowns at home or on the road in the UK and Europe
  • emergency roadside repairs or recovery to a single destination of your choice within the UK
  • onward travel in the UK if your vehicle cannot be repaired on the same day.

What's not covered?

  • the cost of labour and/or parts at any garage where the vehicle is taken
  • vehicles which are being used for commercial or business purposes
  • motorcycles
  • breakdowns which occur after the first 90 days of a trip to Europe.

What's covered?

  • accidental damage, mechanical breakdown, loss or theft - up to £1,500 (subject to a £50 excess per claim and a maximum of two claims per policy year for each First Directory holder)

What's not covered?

  • loss or theft claims where your phone was knowingly put at risk
  • phones owned by an employer or business
  • cosmetic damage
  • any information stored on your phone, such as music or photos.

Reduced charges for cash withdrawals in foreign currency outside the UK

Sign up to First Directory and we won't charge you the usual Cash Fee (2%, minimum £1.75, maximum £5.00) for cash withdrawals in foreign currency outside the UK.

Bear in mind that some ATM operators may charge you for making withdrawals from their machines - they'll tell you on screen before you make a withdrawal. You'll still be charged a non-Sterling transaction fee of 2.75% for these withdrawals.

New to first direct

You need a first direct Current Account to apply for First Directory. See below.

Existing customer

If you already have an account with first direct please read the First Directory Terms and Conditions.

Then you can apply for First Directory by logging on to Online Banking, selecting 'Apply' in the left hand menu and choosing 'First Directory'.

first direct credit facilities are subject to status and we reserve the right to decline to open an account for you.
