Security

MONILINK™ transactions are secure. Your MONILINK™ service can only be accessed from your mobile phone using your passcode. We regularly test, update and validate our security model to ensure we maintain a banking grade level of security. We also use recognised and independent security experts to validate the security of MONILINK™.

Costs

Once you've registered and downloaded the software onto your phone, you'll be able to request the following at no additional charge, as often as you like, until 28 February 2010:

  • real time balances
  • real time mini-statements
  • real time top ups to a prepay mobile phone. (Mobile phone top ups are debited directly from your first direct 1st Account and there is no charge from MONILINK™ for this service).

Costs from 1 March 2010 are 25p for a mini-statement, and just 20p for balance enquiries. No additional fees will apply to mobile phone top ups.

*Free means free of charges from first direct. O2, T-Mobile and Tesco Mobile customers can download and use the service completely free. Orange, Vodafone and Virgin mobile customers may incur a small data charge. If you use this service abroad, standard roaming data charges will apply depending on your network.

Registration

  • MONILINK™ works on most popular mobile phones - if your mobile phone has a camera or games installed it should support MONILINK™. Unfortunately, the MONILINK™ service from first direct is incompatible with the iPhone 
  • Simply register for MONILINK™ via your mobile phone by texting 'fd' to 82428. Within 60 seconds you'll receive a text message, then simply follow the on screen instructions 
  • We'll send your mobile phone a piece of software - it just takes a minute to download and install
  • Then you will be able to view a mini-statement, your balance or top up your mobile in an instant.
