*Credit Card - the rate for balance transfers is no interest for 27 months when you make a balance transfer within three months of account opening. A balance transfer fee of 2.29% (min £5) will be charged for each transferred balance. At the end of the promotional period the rate for the transferred balance will revert to the standard variable rate then applicable to balance transfers. Purchases will be charged at our standard rate.
We will not transfer balances between cards operated by members of the HSBC Group. The HSBC Group means HSBC Bank plc, it's subsidiaries, associated and affiliated companies and includes Marks & Spencer Financial Services plc and John Lewis Financial Services Ltd. Credit is subject to status.
To request a Balance Transfer, call us any time on 03 456 100 100. Requests for a Balance Transfer received by us after 3.30pm or received on a non-working day will be treated as if they were received the next working day. It can take up to five working days from the day of receipt by first direct for the money to reach your other credit or store provider.

This promotion is only available to first direct customers who hold a 1st Account and do not hold a first direct credit card and have not held a credit card with first direct within the previous six months.

Your eligible deposits with HSBC Bank plc are protected up to a total of £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK's deposit protection scheme. This limit is applied to the total of any deposits you have with HSBC Bank plc and first direct.
Any total deposits you hold above the £85,000 limit between HSBC and first direct are not covered.
